Just a few days shy of the first official day of spring, and I’m already paring down everywhere I possibly can, including cleaning up some of the digital space I’ve been taking up.  I haven’t deleted my previous posts here, just made them private. I have kept track of a lot here over the last year and a half, and it’s nice to have a record of that. Mostly this has been about things that I’ve made, but other aspects of life worked their way in, of course. (“Coffee” and “cats” are two items that seem to pop up in very nearly every single post.) Obviously, as with any kind of recording or documentation, there is also a lot left out. Thinking about what I’ve chosen to include and what I’ve chosen to exclude from this particular medium has caused me to think about the kinds of stories I want to share, what kind of space I want them to occupy, and how I want that occupation to look or feel. I’ve felt this way with zines, too, over the years. Every so often it’s good to ask yourself, “Why am I telling the stories that I’m telling? How does sharing them with others detract from or enhance my own experience in writing these things down?” Since right now I don’t really have a good idea of how to answer those questions, it seems like a good opportunity to slow down, focus more on introspection, on observing the work of others, learn something from that, and maybe find my way back to other, more tangible, forms of documentation that I used to find satisfying. This is kind of a nice feeling. It’s possible I’ll be back to talk about knitting and reading and coffee and cats again before long, maybe here or maybe somewhere new. See you guys later!
