UNDERGROUND JUSTICE AND HANDMADE LUCK

serious concerns.

i know i should be writing about something like the g20 in pittsburgh. and i do have my concerns about that. but the thing really keeping me up at night right now is, probably unsurprisingly, diablo cody buying the rights to sweet valley high. there is really nothing i can say here though that has not already been said.  however, as someone who possibly takes ya lit a little too seriously, i will just reiterate some of the finer points that have been made recently and say that if i see enid rollins on a burger phone,  i will flip a table.

as for yarn-related content, i have some serious etsy updates to make soon. gotta find a way to finance all those svh and bsc books i thrift. but in the meantime, maybe you want to take this little treat off my hands:

water signs

it lives in electronic form over in my etsy shop, but in tangible form it lives in my apartment and i came dangerously close to knitting with it this weekend. help me stop the madness. this yarn is delightfully soft and the colors are amazing. and i hear yinz want to be responsible and start your holiday knitting early this year…

Wait so what’s the final verdict on Diablo Cody? That blog entry you linked to is very kind to her, but from the way you wrote about SVH it sounds like maybe you fear that she’s about to destroy everything that you hold dear to your heart. In which case, I agree. I was really surprised she wasn’t involved in .

HA! Yinz! My PA ex taught me that word. It is a good one. Besides the puke sharing, and the talk of tap DVDs (WHICH I WILL BE EXTREMELY SAD IF I AM NOT INVITED TO PARTAKE OF), I love that you’re riled about SVH. I did not know about this news. I am miffed, perturbed even!! At least I can watch episodes of the BSC show on YouTube to soothe the anger…

ah! i had to update my links. i feel a little less kindly about the diablo cody situation than that dairi burger post would suggest. i know some people are coming around but i have to say that i remain ultimately apprehensive. but who knows – maybe it will be okay? but i’ll believe that when i see it!

and let’s of course hang out and watch some serious bsc, any time. and also, tap dvds WILL happen. we will be a traveling tap ensemble before you know it!

I go back and forth on Diablo Cody. I think she has the potential to do awesome things, but just doesn’t quite hit it. I thought Juno would’ve been way better if they left out the ridiculous lingo. And I haven’t seen Jennifer’s Body yet. In an interview, she said she wanted to make a horror movie that both feminists and 15-year-old boys could love, which seems damn near impossible to me, but I guess it’s worth a try. I didn’t know about Sweet Valley until JUST NOW. My sister and I always loved Sweet Valley, being twins ourselves. I don’t wanna see them ruined.

Oh hey. I just got a letter returned to me in the mail that I sent you MONTHS ago. It contained payment for Nothing Rhymes #5, which you also sent me months ago, so I assumed you’d received it. But anyway, I forget what I wrote and I’m not going to open it, but I will mail it again as a surprise one day.

Also, this is kind of a dumb question, but how do I get that little Flickr preview thing on my sidebar? I can’t find any info on the site. I want one too!

amber! i did actually get money for nothing rhymes #5 from you – maybe you sent it twice? you don’t have to send me any dollars, but a letter from you is always a welcome treat! we can discuss feminist horror and sweet valley high until our hands get tired from writing.

also – the flickr preview is a thing wordpress offers, but i’m sure it can be done on blogspot too. it’s called a ‘widget,’ a word i openly detest. i bet blogspot offers a similar thing, i’m just not sure exactly how it’d work, unfortunately.

I had an unfortunate (or maybe fortunate) encounter with Diablo Cody last year… or two years ago? Something of the sort. They premiered “Juno” at the Walker Art Center, which was my place of employment. I liked/disliked the movie in chunks (hamburger phone: no, ‘oh my blog’ catchphrases: no), but I really disliked the question and answer session that followed with a very intoxicated Cody stumbling across the stage. Later, when I had the task of introducing her to the Teen Arts Council it turned out kind of like an after school anti-drug special.

This is a long comment. I meant to just say “I feel your pain.”
